Eco Friendly Christmas Gift Wrapping
Christmas eve and morning are exciting times, watching all the gifts being open, but generates a lot of trash to dispose of after! However, you can create fun and easy gift wrap that is also gentle on the earth. And this is a great way to use up those paper crafting scraps that accumulate! See below for a video on eco friendly Christmas packaging, or read on!
For the base, you can easily find recycled brown/kraft wrapping paper. Your local craft store will carry it, as does Amazon, and office supply stores. Having a solid base allows you to be creative with the tags and other decorative elements!!!
To create a tag, you can cut a rectangle piece of cardstock and snip the top two corners off. Or print out and trace the template below. And then you can stamp and color images on the tag, adhere a die cut, or add scrapbook stickers!
And to create an environmentally friendly decoration instead of a bow, try curling paper strips! Cut strips to different lengths, from 8 inches to 12 inches, and different widths, from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. If you cut them too narrow, the paper will easily tear. Next, gently pull the paper strips along an edge of a pair of scissors. And watch it curl! It might take a little practice at first, to get the correct pressure - enough to curl the ribbon, but not so much that it tears. Curl strips from different, but coordinating cardstock to create interest. And then have fun assembling!
Hemp cord is a very eco friendly way to wrap around the gift. We carry hemp cord in a number of colors. And using our chipboard pieces, you can paint a snowflake with our earth friendly hemp paint and add Wow Eco Sparkles! Finish off with pinecones and sprigs, and you have a very attractive eco friendly package!
Using our chipboard elements from Gypsy Soul Lasercuts, paint the chipboard ornaments in holiday colors of our Izink Nature Paint, and back with scraps of kraft paper. Cut pieces of Modascrap Merry and Bright paper pack, which is FSC Certified, and layer the chipboard ornaments on for a very attractive, earth friendly package!
Use a kraft gift sack you might have gotten when making a purchase at a store! I've made another tag again and added a pine cone! I wrapped the pine cones with the hemp cord, to attach to the gift sack.
And finally, for the pampered pooch, for their special package of dog treats or a new dog toy, use our Photoplay Muttcracker scrapbook paper to decorate a package. And of course, attach a couple dog treats to hemp cord to hang through a rolled piece of cardstock that's been attached to the package!
Have fun with your gift wrap, while being kind to the earth! Find products at www.ecopaperarts.com.
