Gratitude Tag Journal!
Gratitude enhances our positive emotions and makes us happier, according to www.psychologytoday.com! I've begun a gratitude tag journal, using our fun and whimsical Polkadoodles stamps. I plan to add to it when I have time, maybe every week or so.
To learn how to make, either watch the video or read below!
I began with kraft shipping tags that I had on hand - you can find them on Etsy. Or you can use manilla shipping tags, or can make tags by cutting rectangles, snipping the top corners off, and punching a hole in the middle of the top. Mine measure 3 x 6 inches.
I used two Polkadoodles stamp sets - Not So Simple Stamp Soup Clear Stamp Set for the tag on the left in the image and What's Up Buttercup Clear Stamp Set for the tag on the right. I used a black ink pad to stamp the images and also had a black micron pen, white gel pen and colored pencils on hand.
The tag on the left was created combining various images from the Not So Simple Stamp Soup set. The middle house was created using the tall rectangle stamp in the image, with the two small tree shapes for the roof. The house on the left was made stamping one rectangle square on top of another, with the swirly flower stamp between the two levels. The larger tree stamp is the roof for this house. The fun of these stamp soup sets is discovering what you can make when you combine these images! The mini mushroom house on the right comes from the other stamp set.
I colored the image with colored pencils, adding a little shading or ombree effect here and there. I found a gratitude quote I really liked, and in white gel pen wrote it around the edge of the tag -"Let us be grateful for the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." - Marcel Provst. You could also write it in the black micron pen. With the black micron pen I also went back over some of the stamp lines that were a little dull from the colored pencils. I added little highlights with the white gel pen, which I think adds a nice touch.
The tag on the right was created by stamping the What's Up Buttercup house image. It doesn't quite fit on the tag, which is just fine. I also colored this tag with the colored pencils, touched up the black stamped lines with a micron pen and added highlights with the white gel pen. For this tag, I found the following gratitude quote - "Gratitude is a catalyst for happiness. It's the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul." - Amy Collette.
On both tags I wrote "Grateful Thankful Blessed" across the bottom to finish the border. And added a few hearts at the end of the verse to get to the end of the tag. I threaded recycled sari silk around the ring that holds the tags together. You could easily add ribbon or other fibers.
These tags are simple to do, and help bring gratitude and happiness. Once I have a number of tags made, I plan on keeping it in a side table so I can flip through it any time I want. And what a nice gift it would make.
